This small public pavilion emerged from conversations with the Campbell Park community about their need for a flexible gathering space — somewhere to host workshops, share meals, and simply sit together surrounded by greenery.
Structure & Form
The pavilion is constructed from cross-laminated timber, its gentle curves echoing the organic forms of the surrounding garden. The roof lifts at its edges, creating covered outdoor areas that blur the distinction between building and landscape. In summer, large sliding panels open the interior entirely to the garden.
Community Process
The design evolved through a series of community workshops where residents sketched, modelled, and debated their vision. This collaborative process ensured the pavilion truly belongs to its community — not imposed upon them, but grown from their collective imagination.
