Occupying a challenging narrow plot alongside the Grand Union Canal, this house turns its constraints into virtues. The long, slender plan stretches parallel to the water, ensuring that every principal room enjoys views along the canal and into the mature woodland beyond.
Light & Space
Despite the narrow footprint, the house feels remarkably spacious. Double-height volumes at each end of the plan draw light deep into the interior, while a continuous skylight along the spine of the roof washes the central circulation space in soft, diffused light throughout the day.
Garden & Landscape
The garden is conceived as a series of outdoor rooms that extend the living spaces toward the canal. A sunken terrace, a wildflower meadow, and a simple timber deck at the water's edge create a sequence of experiences that change with the seasons.
